Ask Your First Query

Query the index from the terminal without any LLM, then ask a grounded question.

Without an LLM

ekos query find "order" # BM25 full-text search over compiled objects
ekos query find "order" --mode hybrid # BM25 + vector, needs [embeddings]
ekos query object <id> # one object by id
ekos query neighbourhood <id> --depth 2 # graph around an object
ekos ekl "FIND Object WHERE kind = 'Table' AND name CONTAINS 'order' LIMIT 10"
Real output of ekos query find Observer against EKOS's own ledger
Real output of ekos query find Observer against EKOS's own ledger

Add --explain to query find to see how the text was classified and routed.

With an LLM

ekos ask "What tables reference the orders table?"
ekos ask "What does authenticate return?" --explain # show query plan + evidence set
ekos ask "…" --session review # multi-turn

ekos ask needs an [llm] provider in ekos.toml (LLM Providers). Its answer is grounded in retrieved evidence and its citations are validated against what was retrieved.

Through an agent

Connect an MCP client and ask in plain language. The agent calls ekos_search → ekos_state / ekos_neighborhood and cites the results. See MCP Tools.
