Evidence & Provenance

How every conclusion stays traceable from answer to source.

An answer traces back through claim, object, evidence and artifact to the source; provenance records who wrote it

  • Evidence is created by analyzers at recovery time, stored in the ledger, and referenced by id from objects and relationships.
  • Provenance is added at write time: which pipeline run and stage produced each version.
  • compile propagates source_artifact_ids per object, so an object merged from two artifacts lists both.
  • Claims returned by ekos_query name the analyzer that produced them and their source location.

ekos ask goes further: its answer is grounded in a typed evidence set and its citations are validated against what was retrieved, so a citation cannot point at something that was not retrieved.
