Evidence

Evidence is the concrete origin of a fact: a source location and the fragment it was read from.

A fact is supported by evidence from source files, database objects, documentation and compiled applications

Every evidence record carries:

Field Meaning
location Where it came from — path, line span, or artifact
fragment The literal text or structure that supports the fact
confidence 0.0–1.0; deterministic recovery is 1.0, inferred material is lower
created_at When the evidence was recorded

Objects and relationships reference their evidence by id. When the compiler builds the CKM it sorts an object's evidence by confidence and picks the best fragment as its primary description.

This is the invariant that makes EKOS different from a search index: a conclusion with no evidence does not exist in the ledger. If you ask ekos_state for an object, you get the object, its relationships, and the evidence behind each.
